Again the upgrade has been complicated by snafus and errors, with various parts of the operation breaking down: templates, plugins, the forum connection lost. Now I know why people pay money for something like ning.

Finally back home with the passwords;)

You have by now put up the new ‘Elle’, but I do think that the future of such concepts such as ‘Elle’ need to be more about the visitors, and that forums and social networking serves that goal far better. It does take more oversight.

I hope the best for us continuing with the older style of blogging. Yet, I think the focus is going to have to be more inclusive of the reader than before. Discussion is everything on a site about morality and Christian issues. If they want to hear a preacher they go to Church.

I commented on the new site, and already I felt it was stilted in addressing a particular person’s writing.It seems like debate is taking place with the writer… when what is wanted is lively discussion that takes on the topic at hand.

If you’d like to consider this site for use as a forum – connection adjunct to ‘Elle- maybe that would work? i’m really intrigued with the way the social network stuff works and would like to see how it is on the smaller scale like this.

THanks for the welcome. I’m now just orienting myself to WordPress. My new site is on Drupal, i’m not sure about it for blogging, i think wordpress is really probably the best rought.

Personally, i think we should avoid the social networking style of site. the focus should be on the blogposts and writers, not the visitors.

Thoughts?

Actually this is a WordPress platform that has been stretched to create a community. More like ning than facebook. On a smaller scale, it is like a neighborhood rather than a city

You can message, make groups and discuss on group forums. Additionally there is a separate forum platform that interconnects with the groups forums. So you can discuss things there, too. All with one login.

At present it is not a free blog site, and I don’t have plans to implement that. Once Elle is in place at it’s permanent location this place can serve as a discussion place, if wanted. I am just experimenting with this, and Bonnie is just getting started with her plans of TRT and Elle moving.

You can talk about whether you like this platform- or whether you prefer ning, etc. I tried out ning for a brief period.
